This was the best game I have had - taking control to a whole new level. Watch as I use Sorin Markov
Sorin Markov to take control of my opponents last 3 turns and kill with poision.

Spreading contagion

After a few frustrating sessions trying out the mono white equipment deck I decided to pick up my contagion brew for some mono black action. This deck is way different to anything else I have in my deck box right now. Contagion Engine
Contagion Engine and Contagion Clasp
Contagion Clasp are the sickness and fast becomming my favorite cards from the Scars set.
It attacks from a number of different angles and seems to keep my opponents off balance long enough to win. Check out this latest feature where I battle a mono green deck to a standstill before crushing him to pulp!

Pottering about with my deck box I decided that one must always have a mono green Stompin' It kind of deck for those occasions that one just has to stomp face. Nothing I have constructed has really cut the mustard so I went all out to construct something impressive.
I wanted to try out my Gaea's Revenges
Gaea's Revenge and Mitotic Slimes
Mitotic Slime seeing as I worked hard to get them. You can see the list in all it's glory here.
I thought I'd test it out on MTGO, but didn't have all of the cards I needed. So I tweaked it and this is the result. So far the list is 3-0, which is pretty good for a cheap nasty list.
The feature match today is v's a Jacce TMS deck - ready to rumble?

Today I had a brainwave and threw together another deck concept. Its a mono black contagion engine
Contagion Engine/contagion clasp
Contagion Clasp deck featuring both massive damage via Exsanguinate or death by proliferated poison. It is not really a single player deck, but so far it has held its own.
Check out the following game.

I took my UBw Venser deck to the local FNM event today and went a credable 3-1 with it. Had a series of very fun matches and more importantly finished 3rd and so took home a FNM foil Gatekeeper of Malakir
Gatekeeper of Malakir.
Special thanks to Lawrence at King of Cards for running a wonderful store - easily the best in Auckland for gaming bliss.
My day went as follows:
Round 1 - Liam playing Goblins
Game 1 - I faced down a turn 1 Quest for the Goblin Lord
Quest for the Goblin Lord followed by a series of goblins. Fortunately I stabalised at 11 life with a Skinrender
Skinrender and Abyssal Persecutor
Abyssal Persecutor wich beat him down in short order. Venser
Venser, the Sojourner arived to bounce the Persecutor
Abyssal Persecutor for the win.
Game 2 - I got run over by Goblins
Game 3 - See Game 1 with the exception that I stabalised at 6 life before riding a Persecutor all the way.
Round 2 - Craig playing Mono Red Koth
Game 1 and 2 - Ugly. One way procesion of beatings saw me dispatched in short order. I need to spend more time testing against this deck.
Round 3 - Lawrence playing UW Venser
Game 1 - Lawrence came out fast with a pair of surprise Kor Hookmaster's
Kor Hookmaster and I was never able to recover. Kor Hookmaster
Kor Hookmaster is very strong and I will be testing it in my UW Venser build to see how it plays out.
Game 2 - Was a long drawn out affair with me pulling out a win with not much time left.
Game 3 - I was in a commanding position, and Lawrence conceeded when time was called even though I was not going to be able to win in the 5 extra turns.
Round 4 - Anthony playing Vampires
Game 1 - Turn one vampires = Death! Dead removal in hand in the form of Doom Blade's
Doom Blade also a factor.
Game 2 - Lack of Turn One Vampire and more relevant removal saw me get home with ease.
Game 3 See game 2 but even more so! I attacked for the win with a Frost Titan
Frost Titan, with Jace, the Mind Sculptor
Jace, the Mind Sculptor on 13 counters and Venser, the Sojourner
Venser, the Sojourner on 9 counters. Total domination!

There is something about Geth
Posted by Mr Z on Monday, November 01st 2010 at 17:25
Novembers challenge is to design a multiplayer deck based around Geth, Lord of the Vault
Geth, Lord of the Vault. This bad boy deserves some loving and needs a place to shine.
I am thinkinig that the first port of call will be the necrotic plague deck list as necrotic plagues tend to provide many ways to get creatures into the graveyard. Mono black perhaps? Replace the Abyssal Persecutors
Abyssal Persecutor with Geth, Lord of the Vault
Geth, Lord of the Vault. The downside is that Geth would become a target for the Plague and would not be as effective. A tentative first list can be found here.
Ok, so it's not a new deck idea, but it is a start! Geth fits a concept where there are many creatures in graveyards, and getting Geth ont a mimic vat could be interesting. The loss of the Abyssal Persecutors
Abyssal Persecutor makes this deck weak against flying decks, but can be shored up with some thought and planning.
